TeamSpeak Downtime

Today the server that hosts our TeamSpeak went down. Unfortunately, we do not have TeamSpeak set to auto-start, when the server comes back up.

We are having some trouble getting the auto-start script to work, but TeamSpeak is back up while we work out the problems.

In addition, due to the outdated nature of our WordPress-PHPBB3 integration plugin, I have disabled it. If you wish to post articles to the blog, you will now require a separate account. Please contact me if you are interested in making blog posts.

Downtime all done! Kilo-Tango Roadtrip Series

We have finished switching server providers and should not have any more scheduled downtime.

On a much lighter note, Craig (Alpha) has arrived in America, and our roadtrip officially begins on Monday! We will be keeping you updated on our travels throughout the roadtrip. I will also add all of our stops to a google calender, and post a public link! If you would like to keep up to date with us you can check our twitter feed (twitter.com/ktcommunity), watch this blog for updates, or check the forums!

Battleship Finished!

With the effort of InstertEvilLaught and Aur0ra145, a full scale reproduction of the USS Iowa was completed in the Minecraft server a week ago. The project took over 14,000 blocks of smooth-stone to complete and was worked on by the entire community.

The ship features multiple decks, three full-size gun turrets and access to all portions of the ship. Being situated southeast of spawn. Hop on the inter-island railway and visit InsertEvilLaugh and Aur0ra145 at their battleship.

Some Small Changes

I went to go play Killing Floor yesterday and realized we hadn’t updated the server in more than a month, so I went ahead and did that. Our Official Maps KF server also wasn’t showing up in the master server list, and never had anyone playing on it, so I went ahead and shut it down, and made the Custom Maps server Official Maps and it’s now back up and running again.

I also added a favicon to the site.

Personal Blog Post: Adding New Cars to GTA IV

As everyone in KT knows I’ve been messing around with GTA IV, modding it, especially surrounding the emergency vehicles, and lighting systems. Lately I’ve been feeling like I want more cars in the game to mess with, and I was trying to find out if it was possible to add NEW cars (since SparkIV only allows you to REPLACE .wft  and .wtd [textures/models] inside of the .img [container for textures/models) files). I stumbled across this little gem. Apperantly adding new cars in inroduces some bugs, such as you not being able to play any mini-games, which is unfortunate (but really, who played those anyways), but I think that the benefits outweigh the losses. I’ll be putting this to the test tomorrow.

I’ve also been trying to replace the car fleet with their real world counterparts, but I’ve struggled to find models that have any kind of deforamation on impact, which personally is a dealbreaker. I have come across one awesome mod though. Some guy came up with script mod to allow you to use put convertible tops on cars up and down (with specific car models that are made to work with his mod). That’s pretty damn cool! I’ll probably make a video about that later.

Since we’re on the topic of GTA IV, here’s a video of Matt being retarded. =)

Minecraft Bukkit Mod

With the demise of hey0’s server administration and customization mod, a new mod has stepped up to the plate. Bukkit mod is the new hey0’s, but much better. There are already hundreds of plugins for the mod, ranging from simple chat mods that give each user a color when they chat in game, to economy mods that allow players to run shops; buying and selling things from other players.

As you porbably know, one of the updates made Hey0’s mode incompatible with the server. The bukkit team was planning on updating hey0’s mod themselves until bukkit was ready for release, but with the Minecraft updates rolling out so frequently, they really had no choice but to only focus on their own project. Luckily, bukkit quickly became very stable and now many servers are using it, including ours. We haven’t yet installed any plugins, but I am working on getting them installed. If you have any plugins that you would really like to see our server running, make a post in the forums and get other members on board with your idea, and I will add it. Currently we will be running the Permissions mod, and a few other sub-mods for Permissions that help out.

Here is the bukkit website. Plugins for bukkit can be found here.
